Flowers, flowers, flowers!
So it’s flower season. This year I have been on it with foraging for and collecting flowers. Sustainably of course, asking friends and neighbors to dead head their roses, harvest from their lilac bushes.
And of course I’ve been splurging a bit on flowers. Instead of buying new socks I decided to spend that money on a new dahlia!
Everywhere I hike right now there are wild flowers galore. Wild roses, toad flax, alfalfa, yarrow, penstamons, sego lily, mules ear, wild onions, lupines, asters, and countless others.
Over the years I have collected one of each flower, pressed and dried them and then put them into a shadow box. There is some magical about shadow boxes full of plants.
With the success of my “Rose & Chocolate” soap I have been harvesting and drying lots and lots of roses to try and bring the “localness” of my botanicals even closer to home. Coming soon this summer will be a very special batch of wild rose soap. Make sure to sign up for the newsletter so you’ll be the in the know before the general public. That soap is going to go very fast.
There is something so wonderful about flowers. They bring you joy not only in their variety of shapes and colors, but perfume and flavor as well. What flowers are growing in your are right now?
