What happens when you don't store your soap properly?
This is a question I get a lot, “How do I store my soap and what happens if I don’t store it properly?”
The easy answer is the dreaded yellow spot appears as the oils in your soap go rancid. Eventually the soap will smell old and gross instead of fresh and intoxicating.
Often customers will buy soaps and then feel bad about using them because they are handmade. But that’s all the more reason to use them! I make my soap by hand so that you have the freshest, most skin friendly soap on the market. You came looking for a soap that wouldn’t dry out your hands, that smelled great and has an awesome lather, why let it sit in closet until it doesn’t smell anymore?
So how do I store my soap properly?
That’s super easy. Store your soaps in a cool dark place with some air flow. Soap needs to breathe so don’t keep it in a closed plastic box. Use them within 6 moths- a year.
If I my soap gets yellow spots what do I do?
If there is only one or two spots and the soap still smell good ie “clean fresh smell soapy smell” just cut off the effected parts and use right away. If it smells bad throw it away.
How many bars of soap should I buy to avoid my soap getting old?
That depends on how quickly you go through a bar of soap. On average my customers buy 3-5 bars of soap every month to two months. Some really stock up and buy 10 bars at a time (they must have a ton kids)!
